Acute sinusitis or Rhino sinusitis, is a short-term inflammation of the membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. The ability to drain mucus from your nose and sinuses is hampered. This also causes throat irritation and acute ear pain. Reason being all three are connected.

Allergic fungal sinusitis is found in infected fungi which exist in the environment. This leads to sticky mucus and often affects the sense of smell.

Bacterial sinusitis is caused by bacteria which affect the hollow spaces of the bones of the face and nose, often affecting areas under the nose and under the eye, frontal headache accompanied by fever and cough. Maxillary sinusitis is a paranasal sinuses also affecting the sides of the cheek, nose and teeth. Fever soreness of throat and pressure in the face are common symptoms. There are umpteen benefits of keeping a healthy clean nose so using a nasal spray like clear nasal can keep these disasters at bay.

It is important to take precaution hence nasal sprays can be used at early stages in sinuses to prevent it. Saline rinses and salt therapy are very soothing, as saline helps loosen the mucus. Salt is antibacterial and also drains out fluid from the sinuses hence is having anti-inflammatory properties.

An acute sinus is the residue of a cold, running nose and congestion. Sinus Infection can last about 2 to 4 weeks. Chronic sinus can be even 12 weeks long.

In the case of recurrent sinusitis a person is prone to four sinus attacks per year lasting 4 to 6 weeks. Drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated is a must.  Avoid chlorinated pools and keep a hot towel on your face and prop yourself up to ease breathing. Take pain relievers to ease sinus headaches and face pain.
